Among the signatories are former Prime Ministers John Howard and Malcolm Turnbull. The letter states that due to gambling addiction, Australians lose more than $25 billion annually, leading to social consequences such as divorces and suicides. To address the issue and protect teenagers, it is proposed to completely ban gambling advertising. However, they recommend implementing the ban gradually over three years. Additionally, operators may be prohibited from running promotions and offering welcome bonuses.
