Here’s the latest update on gambling regulation around the globe:

Ukraine's Comprehensive Gambling Restrictions
Ukraine has moved swiftly to impose a ban on gambling advertising, effective from June 1 and lasting until a specific law is enacted or military conditions end. Key provisions include:
  • Ban on Multiple Accounts: Players can no longer register multiple accounts.
  • Mandatory Breaks: Operators must enforce mandatory breaks for all players.
  • Pre-Play Information Collection: Before registration or placing a bet, operators need to collect:
  • Limits on the amount of money the player wishes to spend.
  • Maximum time the player wants to spend continuously gambling.
Brazil's Licensing Requirements
Brazil has introduced new regulations requiring all operators to secure a license by January 1, 2025. The cost of the license is €5.38 million and covers up to three brands for five years. Non-compliance will result in penalties and legal action.

Sweden and Argentina's Credit Card Ban
Sweden has enacted a ban on using credit cards for gambling. Argentina has recently proposed similar measures.

Belgium’s Regulatory Updates
Belgium’s gambling regulations have been updated to include:
  • Annual Meetings: The regulator will hold annual meetings with licensed operators to discuss player protection measures.
  • Increased Minimum Age: The minimum age for players has been raised from 18 to 21 years.
Spain's Gambling Data Registry
The Spanish gambling regulator DGOJ is developing a national register for gambling data. This will streamline monitoring and regulatory oversight. Operators will be required to create risk profiles for players under 25. The registry is set to launch in early 2025.

Kazakhstan's Anti-Gambling Measures
Kazakhstan is implementing a comprehensive plan to combat illegal gambling and gambling addiction, aiming to reduce the number of regular gamblers from 350,000 to 201,000 by 2026. The government will allocate over ₸80 million (€168,000) for treatment and rehabilitation. The plan includes increased blockades of illegal gambling sites and restrictions on advertising.

Current Gambling Licenses in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan currently has 28 active licenses: 6 for casinos, 9 for gaming halls, 12 for bookmakers, and 1 for a totalizator.

Netherlands' Gambling Tax Increase
The Netherlands is raising its gambling tax rate from 30.5% to 37.8%. This change is expected to generate an additional €202 million in revenue.

Germany’s Sponsorship Bill Rejection
A recent proposal to ban sponsorship by bookmakers in Germany was rejected, marking a small victory for the iGaming sector.
