India: an iGaming market fully dependent on cricket

19.05.2026
Blask analyzed four years of the Indian iGaming market — from 2022 to 2025. Months with cricket consistently lead in the Blask Index. Months without cricket — even supported by major global events — remain in the middle of the annual ranking.
Crypto Bookmakers: What Are They and How to Use Them?
IPL is the main peak of the year
🔵 IPL (Indian Premier League) is India’s domestic cricket league, running from late March to late May
🔵 In 2023 and 2024, April and May took the top two positions in the Blask Index
🔵 In 2025, the peak window expanded — March, April, and May occupied the entire top 3
🔵 The IPL schedule changes from season to season, so the peak months also shift

International tournaments are the only competitor to IPL
🔴 ODI Cricket World Cup, held in autumn 2023, pushed November to 3rd place
🔴 T20 Cricket World Cup, held in June 2024, brought June to 3rd place
🔴 ICC Champions Trophy, held in March 2025, strengthened an already peak month
🔴 Only once in four years did a non-IPL month take first place — October 2022, during the T20 World Cup peak, which was also cricket-driven

Global drivers do not work in India
🔵 December — the global iGaming peak worldwide — ranks only 7th on average in India
🔵 The 2022 FIFA World Cup final did not push December above 6th place
🔵 UEFA Euro and Copa América 2024 did not lift July above 4th place
🔵 Football, casino, and smaller cricket series keep demand at an average level — but do not create the peak

Conclusion
India has many fans of football, tennis, and basketball. But this is barely reflected in the Blask Index. Even the biggest global events remain more of a spectacle for Indian players than a reason to place bets. Active betting in the country is concentrated almost entirely around cricket.
